Discussion & Presenters

Learners ask. Your presenters answer.

Give every course its own discussion board, tied to the lesson a question came from. Presenters get their own dashboard and an inbox of unanswered questions, without admin access to the rest of your platform.

What is a course discussion board in an LMS?

Yes, Continuum Learn is an LMS where learners can ask the presenter questions: switch on the discussion board for a course and learners post questions from the course page or straight from the lesson they are on, and the course's presenters, authors and admins answer with a staff badge beside their name. A course discussion board keeps those questions and answers inside the course, so the next learner with the same question finds the answer already there.

Each thread can be linked to a lesson. The lesson header shows how many discussions it has and an "Ask a question" link, and learners can filter the board by lesson. Staff replies carry a Staff or Presenter badge, moderators can pin, lock or hide threads and mark a reply as the answer, and an Unanswered filter lists every thread that is still waiting on a staff reply.

Presenters are first-class in Continuum Learn. Add a profile for each speaker, trainer or subject expert, attach them to courses, and they appear on the course card and course page. Link a profile to a login and that person gets a presenter area: their courses, enrolled learners, quiz and survey results, attendance marking and an inbox of unanswered questions, scoped to the courses they present and nothing else. Pair it with live training or course surveys to keep learners engaged after the session ends.

Questions answered where the learning happens

No separate forum tool, no shared inbox, no giving guest speakers the keys to your admin area.

Questions in Context

Learners ask from the lesson they are on. Every thread shows which lesson it belongs to, and the board can be filtered by lesson.

Nothing Slips Through

The Unanswered filter and presenter inbox list every thread with no staff reply and no accepted answer, so questions don't go unanswered.

Presenters Without Admin Access

A presenter sees only the courses they are linked to: learners, results, attendance and questions. Your settings, billing and other courses stay out of reach.

Moderation Built In

Pin useful threads, lock finished ones, hide anything off-topic and mark the best reply as the answer. Hidden posts stay visible to moderators only.

Who uses course discussion and presenters

CPD Courses With Expert Presenters

Bring in clinicians, lawyers or industry specialists to present a course and answer learner questions, without making them platform administrators.

Guest Speakers and External Trainers

Show a guest speaker's profile on the course even if they never log in. Invite them by email later if they will answer questions or mark attendance.

Member and Cohort Programmes

Give members one place per course to ask questions and learn from each other's answers. See how it fits a member training LMS.

Everything in the discussion board and presenter area

One feature set for learners, presenters and admins

Per-Course Discussion Board

Turn discussion on per course from the course settings. Learners get an Overview and Discussion tab on the course page and can start a thread or reply.

Lesson-Linked Threads

Threads can be tied to a lesson. Lessons show a discussion count and an "Ask a question" link that opens a new thread for that lesson.

Accepted Answers & Staff Badges

Moderators mark the best reply as the answer. Replies from admins, authors and presenters carry a Staff or Presenter badge.

Pin, Lock & Hide

Pin a thread to the top, lock it so only staff can reply, or hide a thread or reply instead of deleting it. Learners can edit or delete their own posts for 15 minutes.

Email Notifications With Digests

Thread authors are emailed when someone replies and presenters are emailed about new threads. After five emails in an hour, the rest arrive as a single digest.

Presenter Profiles

Name, title, bio and photo for each presenter, in each of your languages, with AI translation. Profiles show on course cards and course pages, in the order you choose.

Presenter Dashboard

Presenters see their courses with enrolment counts, upcoming Zoom and live sessions for the next 30 days, learner lists, quiz and survey results, and an unanswered-question count.

Attendance Marking

Presenters can mark learners as attended on courses that take attendance. Marking attendance releases the completion email and certificate as it does for admins.

Observer Mode

Presenters can work through their own courses and quizzes without creating completions, results or certificates, so reports show real learners only.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an LMS where learners can ask the presenter questions?

Yes. In Continuum Learn you switch on the discussion board for a course, and learners post questions from the course page or from the lesson they are on. The presenters linked to that course are emailed about new threads, answer them with a Presenter badge beside their name, and can mark a reply as the answer.

Which LMS has a discussion forum for each course?

Continuum Learn has a discussion board per course, turned on in the course settings. Threads can be linked to a specific lesson, learners can filter the board by lesson, and each lesson shows how many discussions it has with an "Ask a question" link.

Can guest speakers or external presenters answer questions without being admins?

Yes. Continuum Learn gives presenters their own role, which they hold only while their profile is linked to their login. A presenter sees only the courses they present: enrolled learners (without email addresses or custom fields), quiz and survey results, attendance and the discussion board. They cannot reach your settings, billing or other courses. A presenter profile can also exist without any login, just to show the speaker on the course.

How do instructors keep track of unanswered learner questions?

Staff can filter the course board to Unanswered, which lists threads with no staff reply, no accepted answer and not locked or hidden. Presenters also get an inbox across all their courses, filterable by course and by unanswered, answered or all, and the presenter dashboard shows the unanswered count.

Can I moderate a course discussion board?

Yes. Admins, authors and linked presenters can pin threads, lock them so only staff can reply, hide threads or individual replies, and mark a reply as the accepted answer. Hidden content stays visible to moderators only. Learners can edit or delete their own posts for 15 minutes after posting.

Will presenters get flooded with notification emails?

No. Each person receives up to five discussion emails in a rolling hour; anything beyond that is held and sent as a single digest every 15 minutes. Emails are sent in the recipient's language. There are no per-user notification preferences yet.

Does a presenter previewing a course count as a completion?

No. When a presenter opens a course they are not enrolled on, Continuum Learn treats them as an observer: they can go through lessons and quizzes, but no course completion, quiz result, survey response or certificate is recorded for them.

Can learners attach files or format text in discussion posts?

Not at the moment. Discussion posts are plain text, and web addresses are turned into clickable links automatically. The discussion board is part of the hosted learner experience and is not included in SCORM exports or courses embedded on your own website.
