An LMS with live streaming built in, not bolted on
Broadcast live classes from OBS or straight from your browser, record every session as a replay automatically, and drop tracked Zoom sessions into any lesson. One platform, no separate webinar subscription for your broadcasts.
Organisations on Continuum Learn have streamed a single live session to more than 2,500 simultaneous attendees.
- Native low-latency streaming
- Replays recorded automatically
- Zoom sessions inside lessons
Which LMS has live streaming built in?
Continuum Learn is an LMS with native live streaming built in: you broadcast from OBS or any RTMPS encoder, or straight from a browser tab, and the stream plays inside the platform on a branded watch page or inside a lesson. Most learning platforms send learners out to Zoom, Teams or Webex instead. Continuum runs its own streaming, and also lets you add Zoom meetings to lessons when a small group needs to talk face to face.
Live streams run on AWS Interactive Video Service channels in low-latency mode. New channels transcode to a 720p adaptive ladder, so every viewer gets a rendition that suits their connection. An event can be one broadcast or a multi-session programme, and each session has its own schedule, status and stream. When a session ends, the recording is stored and attached to that session as a replay without anyone uploading a file. You can add chapter markers, upload an edited version in its place and attach WebVTT captions.
Live streaming lives inside the LMS, so it works with everything else in the platform. A Live Lesson block puts the stream, its countdown and its replay inside a course lesson, and can count attendance towards completion. A Zoom Meeting block creates or links a Zoom meeting, gives learners a join card and records attendance from Zoom's own reports. Events can be sold as live-only, replay-only or live-plus-replay products, and every view feeds watch reporting. Why build live streaming into the LMS?
If streaming lives inside your learning platform, you don't need to stitch tools together, chase recordings or reconcile attendance by hand.
Native Streaming, Two Ways In
Go live from OBS or any RTMPS encoder with a server URL and stream key, or from the in-browser studio with your camera, screen share or both in picture-in-picture.
Replays Without Uploads
Sessions streamed to Continuum's managed channels are recorded automatically. The replay is attached to the right session and expires after the window you set.
Attendance That Counts
Live Lesson blocks can require a set percentage of attendance before they complete. Zoom blocks can complete when the learner joins or when Zoom reports a minimum number of minutes attended.
Sell Live and Replay Separately
Create live-only, replay-only or live-plus-replay products for any event, offer free registration, or keep a product for bundles only. Learners enrolled on a course that embeds the event get access automatically. See how to sell recordings.
Where native live streaming fits
Live Lessons Inside a Course
Schedule a live lesson within a module. Learners see a countdown, watch live with chat, and the block switches to the replay afterwards. You can also hide the replay for one-time assessments.
Multi-Session Conferences and Summits
Run a programme of live sessions on one event page with a dated schedule, add-to-calendar links, chat and Q&A, then keep a replay of every session.
Small-Group Tutorials on Zoom
Add Zoom meetings to lessons when learners need to speak, not just watch. Reminders, join windows and attendance tracking are handled inside the LMS.
Live streaming and Zoom features in Continuum Learn
Everything below is in the product today
Low-Latency Managed Channels
Managed channels run on AWS IVS in low-latency mode with a 720p adaptive ladder. Sessions can also play from Cloudflare Stream or a Vimeo embed if you already use them.
Browser Broadcast Studio
A focused studio page for presenters. Choose camera and microphone, share your screen and position your camera over it, all without installing anything.
Multi-Session Events
Add, reorder and schedule sessions under one event. Each session has its own stream and status, which can follow the schedule or be overridden by hand.
Four Watch-Page Layouts
Standard, Cinematic, Split or Minimal, all branded to your team. Each layout includes the programme, an event details card and calendar links.
Live Chat and Q&A
Turn on chat and Q&A per event. Moderators can pin, hide or mark questions as answered from a dedicated moderation page.
Chapters and Captions
Add chapter lists to the event or to each session, upload WebVTT caption files, and replace the auto-recording with an edited version.
Zoom Sessions in Lessons
Connect your Zoom account once, then create or paste meetings in any lesson. Learners get 24-hour and 1-hour reminders and a join button that opens 15 minutes before the start.
Event Blocks for Pages
Event Hero, Event List, Event Programme, Event Pricing, Event Countdown and Event Button blocks pull live data from your events into any page or course.
Watch Reporting
For each event: unique viewers, watch time, peak concurrency per session, replay drop-off, completions, purchases and revenue. Across the team: live versus replay minutes. CSV export is available for both.
How LMS platforms handle live sessions
Frequently asked questions
Which LMS has live streaming built in rather than a Zoom integration?
Continuum Learn has native live streaming. Managed channels run on AWS Interactive Video Service, and you can broadcast from OBS or any RTMPS encoder, or from a browser tab. Learners watch inside the platform, on a branded watch page or in a lesson, without opening a separate meeting app. Zoom is supported as well, for small-group sessions inside lessons.
Do I need OBS to go live from the LMS?
No. OBS and other RTMPS encoders are supported with a server URL and stream key, but Continuum also has a browser broadcast studio. You pick your camera and microphone and can share your screen, alone or with your camera in picture-in-picture. Nothing needs to be installed.
Are live sessions recorded automatically?
Yes, for sessions streamed to Continuum's managed AWS IVS channels. When the stream ends, the recording is attached to that session as a replay without a manual upload. You choose how many days replays stay available, can add chapters and WebVTT captions, and can upload an edited version in its place. Sessions played from a Vimeo embed use Vimeo's own replay.
Can I run Zoom meetings inside an LMS lesson?
Yes. Once your team's Zoom account is connected under Manage > Settings > Zoom, a Zoom Meeting block can create a meeting in Zoom or link to an existing one. Learners see a join card with a countdown and calendar link, get reminders 24 hours and 1 hour before, and can join from 15 minutes before the start. The meeting opens in Zoom. Join links come from the server rather than being stored in the lesson.
How does the LMS track attendance at live sessions?
A Live Lesson block can require a percentage of attendance before it marks the lesson block complete. A Zoom block can complete when the learner joins, or when Zoom reports that they attended for a minimum number of minutes, using Zoom's participant data. Admins can see attendance per meeting and mark someone as attended by hand. Event analytics show unique viewers, watch time and peak concurrency per session.
Can I charge for live access and replay access separately?
Yes. Each event can have several products, each set to live only, replay only or live plus replay, at any price including free. Products can also be kept for bundles only. Learners enrolled on a course that embeds the event get access without buying a ticket. The commerce side is covered on sell webinar recordings.
Does Continuum Learn support breakout rooms or a whiteboard?
Not in its native streaming. Native streams are one-to-many broadcasts with live chat and Q&A. For breakout rooms and two-way video, use a Zoom Meeting block in the lesson: the session runs in Zoom, and reminders, joining and attendance are tracked in the LMS.
What's the difference between an LMS with live streaming and a webinar platform?
A webinar platform runs the live session and hands you a recording file. An LMS with live streaming keeps the stream, the replay, attendance, quizzes, certificates and payments in one place, so a live session counts towards course completion and CPD. If your main goal is running webinars and selling the recordings, see the live training platform page.
