One certificate for a whole programme of courses
Group courses into a programme, mark each one required or optional, and Continuum Learn awards a single numbered certificate the moment a learner meets the rule. Add CPD hours, an expiry date and a public verification link.
Learners finish the courses you choose and receive one programme certificate, issued automatically with its own certificate number.

Can an LMS give one certificate for a group of courses?
Yes. In Continuum Learn you group courses into a programme, and the platform awards one certificate when a learner completes it. Each course is marked required or optional, and you set how many optional courses count, so "complete all of these", "any 3 of these 5" and "all the core courses plus 2 electives" are all one setting.
Programmes are how you build learning paths, micro-credentials and stackable awards without a separate credentialing tool. Courses that award their own certificate still do, and when a learner meets the programme rule they also receive the programme certificate. It gets a unique certificate number, the award date, the CPD hours you set and, if the programme has a validity period, an expiry date.
Certificates are designed once in Manage > Settings > Certificates: choose a layout, upload your background artwork and up to three logos, add up to two signatories, and write the wording with merge fields such as {learner_name}, {certificate_number} and {cpd_hours}. A live preview shows the result as you type. Each issued certificate is frozen at the moment it is awarded, so later edits to the template never change a certificate a learner already holds.

Required and optional courses
Mark each course required or optional and set the minimum number of optional courses. The summary spells out the rule: all 3 required courses and at least 1 of the 2 optional ones.
CPD hours and expiry dates
Give the programme a certificate title, choose a template, and set CPD hours and how many months the certificate stays valid.
Design certificates with a live preview
Design certificates once in Manage > Settings > Certificates. Switch layouts, turn on public verification and watch the live preview update.
Merge fields and signatories
Merge fields fill in the learner's name, title, award date, CPD hours and expiry date. Signatories print underneath.
Public certificate verification
The public verification page confirms a certificate is genuine and shows whether it is still valid.
Credentials that mean something
A programme certificate proves a learner finished a defined body of learning, not just one module.
Flexible Completion Rules
Mark each course required or optional and set the minimum number of optional courses. One model covers "all of", "any N of M" and "core plus electives".
Awarded Automatically
The certificate is issued as soon as the rule is met and the learner gets an email. No admin has to check a spreadsheet or press a button.
Numbered and Verifiable
Every certificate carries a unique number. Turn on public verification and the certificate prints a link where anyone can confirm it is genuine and still valid.
CPD Hours and Expiry
Record CPD hours on the certificate, set a validity period in months, and learners are emailed before their certificate expires.
Programme certificates in practice
Micro-credentials
Package a short set of courses as a named micro-credential with its own certificate title, CPD hours and a verification link learners can share with employers.
Professional Development Pathways
Offer core courses everyone must take plus a choice of electives, and award a pathway certificate when the learner has done the core and enough electives.
Compliance and Refresher Training
Bundle mandatory safety or regulatory courses into one programme with a certificate valid for, say, 24 months, and remind learners 30 days before it lapses.
Everything around the certificate, built in
Programmes, certificate design, verification and expiry are part of the LMS, not a separate credentialing subscription
Programme Builder
Create a programme in Create > Programmes, add any of your courses, order them, and mark each one required or optional. A plain-English summary shows exactly what learners must complete.
Certificate Templates
Classic or standard layouts, A4 landscape background artwork, text colour, up to three logos and two signatories with signature images. Set a team default or pick a template per course or programme. For course-level certificates, see <a href="/cpd-certificate-software">CPD certificate software</a>.
Merge Fields and Live Preview
Insert learner name, title, award date, certificate number, CPD hours, expiry date and organisation name, and see the certificate update with sample data as you edit.
Public Verification Page
An optional verification link on each certificate opens a page showing the learner's name, title, award and expiry dates, CPD hours, certificate number and whether it is Valid or Expired. Nothing else is exposed.
Award and Expiry Emails
Learners are emailed when they earn a programme certificate, and again before any certificate with a validity period expires (once per certificate).
Certificates in the Learner's Language
Write certificate wording, signatory titles and programme certificate titles per language, with an optional AI translation draft. Each learner's certificate is issued in their language.
Learner Progress Everywhere
A Programmes section on the learner dashboard shows required and optional courses, progress and the download button. Course cards and pages show which programme a course belongs to.
Back-Dating for Existing Learners
Create a programme over courses people have already finished and those who already meet the rule receive the certificate too, dated when it is awarded.
Frequently asked questions
What LMS gives one certificate for completing a group of courses?
Continuum Learn does this with Programmes. You add courses to a programme, mark each one required or optional, and the learner receives one programme certificate when they meet the rule. Any course certificates you have switched on are still issued as normal.
Can I require some courses and let learners choose others?
Yes. Each course in a programme is either required or optional, and you set the minimum number of optional courses. For example, all 3 core courses plus at least 2 of 5 electives. Setting the minimum to zero means only the required courses count.
Does Continuum Learn support micro-credentials or stackable credentials?
Yes. A programme works as a micro-credential: it has its own certificate title, CPD hours, optional expiry and a unique certificate number. Learners can earn course certificates along the way and the programme certificate when the set is complete. Certificates are PDFs with an optional public verification page. They are not Open Badges.
How can someone check a certificate is genuine?
Turn on public verification in the certificate template and each certificate prints a verification link. The page shows the learner's name, the certificate title, award date, expiry date, CPD hours, certificate number and whether it is Valid or Expired. It shows nothing else and is hidden from search engines.
Can certificates show CPD hours and expire?
Yes. Set CPD hours and a validity period in months on any course or programme. The hours print on the certificate through the {cpd_hours} merge field, the expiry date is calculated from the award date, and learners get an email 30 days before the certificate expires. For a single course, see CPD certificate software.
If I change my certificate design, do old certificates change?
No. Each certificate is frozen when it is awarded, including the template, wording, language and values. Editing a template or a translation only affects certificates issued afterwards.
What happens to learners who already finished the courses before I created the programme?
They are included. Continuum Learn re-checks programme progress when learners open their dashboard or certificate page, and administrators can run a bulk evaluation, so anyone who already meets the rule receives the programme certificate.
Can certificates be issued in different languages?
Yes. Certificate wording, signatory titles and programme certificate titles can be written per language, with an optional AI translation as a first draft. Each learner's certificate is issued in their own language.
