How can I embed an online course on my own website?

To embed online learning on your own website, build it once in Continuum Learn and choose how it leaves the platform: publish it as a Publication that your site pulls in as ready-made, search-friendly HTML, or export it as a SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 package to run inside another LMS. Both come from the same visual course builder, so you never rebuild content for each destination.

A Publication is for reader-focused content — a guide, handbook, policy or PDF replacement. Continuum renders every page on the server, so your website receives real HTML text rather than an empty iframe, and every class is prefixed continuum- so your site's stylesheet cannot accidentally restyle it. When you edit the content, the published pages rebuild automatically a few minutes later.

When the content needs tracking in someone else's LMS, export it as SCORM instead. The package includes a standalone player that reports completion, quiz scores, progress and the learner's place in the course back to the host LMS. Translated courses can be exported in each enabled language — see our multilingual LMS.

Prefer to keep learners in your own branded academy? Run Continuum on your own domain, then use the free Continuum Connect plugin to list courses, add buy buttons and sign WordPress members straight in. Everything else — certificates, surveys, discussion and reporting — stays in one platform.

Embed on Your Website

Publications arrive on your site as server-rendered HTML with isolated styles, so guides read natively and can be crawled like any other page.

SCORM 1.2 & 2004 Export

Download a self-contained SCORM package from the builder and upload it to Moodle or any other SCORM-compliant LMS.

One Visual Builder

Text, images, carousels, flashcards, accordions, video, flowcharts and quizzes — built once with drag-and-drop blocks and reused everywhere.

Tracking That Travels

SCORM exports report completion, quiz scores, progress and resume position to the host LMS, so results land where your client reports.

Build a course once and hand each corporate client a SCORM 1.2 or 2004 package for their own LMS, while selling the same course directly on yours.

Organisations Running WordPress

Keep WordPress as your marketing site and use the Continuum Connect plugin to show course listings, buy buttons and a learner's own courses.

What you can publish, and how

Built into the same platform you use to create, sell and report on courses

Publications

Switch any course to the Publication type to present it as reader-focused web content — guides, reports, handbooks and policies — without progress or assessment framing.

Search-Friendly HTML

Each lesson is rendered to static HTML on the server, then becomes interactive in the browser, so accordions, carousels and video still work.

Style Isolation

Every element uses <code>continuum-</code> prefixed classes and its own layout rules, so your website's CSS cannot clash with the embedded content.

Automatic Republishing

Edit a Publication in the builder and its pages are rebuilt and republished automatically, a few minutes after your last change.

SCORM Export in Two Clicks

Choose SCORM 1.2 for the widest LMS compatibility or SCORM 2004 for richer tracking. Images and uploaded media are bundled into the ZIP.

Quizzes & Scoring in SCORM

Quizzes and knowledge checks run inside the SCORM player and report a score out of 100, plus completed and passed statuses on SCORM 2004.

Exports in Every Language

Pick which language to export when a course has translations, and the player's buttons and labels come out in that language too.

WordPress Plugin & Custom Domain

Continuum Connect adds course and event shortcodes, buy links and WordPress single sign-on. Point your own domain at your academy with automatic TLS.

Frequently asked questions

How can I embed an online course on my own website?

With Continuum Learn you build the content in a visual course builder and set it as a Publication. Continuum renders each page to HTML on the server, and your website fetches it through an authenticated API, so visitors see the content as part of your page and search engines can read the text. If you need learners to log in and be tracked, run the course in your Continuum academy on your own domain and link to it from your site.

Is there a course builder that exports SCORM?

Yes. Continuum Learn's visual course builder has an Export SCORM button on every course. You choose SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 and download a ZIP containing the content, its images and media, and a standalone player that reports completion, scores and progress to the receiving LMS.

Should I export SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004?

Choose SCORM 1.2 when you are unsure what the receiving LMS supports, because it has the widest compatibility. Choose SCORM 2004 when the LMS supports it and you want separate completion and success statuses and a scaled score. Continuum exports both from the same course, so you can supply whichever a client asks for.

Can I put a SCORM file on my website without an LMS?

Not on its own. A SCORM package expects an LMS to provide the tracking interface, so uploading the ZIP to a web page usually shows nothing useful. If you want content on your own website, publish it from Continuum as a Publication, which is made for websites. Use SCORM export only when the content is going into another LMS.

Do quizzes and completion tracking work in an exported SCORM course?

Yes. Quizzes and knowledge checks run inside the exported player. Completing every lesson marks the course complete, a quiz reports a score out of 100, and the learner's position is saved so they can resume. Surveys, live Zoom or streamed sessions and the course discussion board need the online platform, so the package shows a short placeholder for them instead.

Can I embed e-learning in WordPress?

Yes. Continuum's free Continuum Connect plugin connects a WordPress site to your Continuum team. It adds shortcodes for course and event listings, a single course card, buy buttons that hand off to checkout and a learner's own courses, plus WordPress single sign-on, so members move into their courses without logging in twice.

Will my website's styles break embedded course content?

They shouldn't. Every element in a Continuum Publication uses classes prefixed continuum- and carries its own grid, typography and button rules, so a host site's Bootstrap or theme CSS does not restyle it. Your team's brand colours and fonts are applied to the content when it is published.

Does Continuum export xAPI, cmi5 or LTI?

Not today. Continuum Learn exports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, which almost every LMS accepts, and can import SCORM 1.2 and 2004 packages from other tools. If your LMS requires xAPI, cmi5 or LTI specifically, talk to us during your demo.
