Can we live stream our own competition instead of using a broadcaster?
Yes. Continuum Learn lets competition organisers run their own pay-per-view live stream on a branded platform: you broadcast the contest, sell live and replay passes to your audience, take payment into your own Stripe account and see full viewing statistics. There is no third-party broadcaster between you and your viewers.
Many contests, championships and festivals hand their stream to a specialist broadcaster. It is an easy start, but the broadcaster usually owns the platform, holds the customer list, decides what data you see and keeps a large share of every ticket. The British Open Brass Band Championships moved away from that model to Continuum Learn, and its first contest on its own platform was watched in 31 countries, with around 35% of viewing from outside the UK. Read The British Open case study.
You don't need your own camera crew. Continuum partners with Red Shell Productions, a specialist live streaming and event production company, to film and produce competitions: cameras, sound and vision mixing on the day, sent straight to your Continuum channel. Red Shell filmed The British Open's contest broadcast. Use them, or bring your own production team.
Every Continuum team chooses a focus. A streaming focus puts live events, replays and a branded watch library at the front of the platform, which suits competitions and festivals. An LMS focus puts courses and certificates first, for organisations whose main job is training. Both run on the same built-in live streaming, so a contest organiser can add masterclasses, adjudicator training or courses for members later without changing platform.

Why stream the competition yourself?
Your contest draws the audience. Your platform should keep it.
Ticket revenue paid to you
Viewers pay through your own connected Stripe account. No broadcaster takes a share of each pass.
See who watched
Unique viewers, watch time, peak concurrent viewers per session, live versus replay viewing and purchases, with CSV export.
Own the customer relationship
Every ticket holder has an account on your platform, so you can reach them before next year's contest.
Reach beyond the venue
Supporters who can't travel watch live from anywhere, and replays keep earning long after the final result.
Competitions and events organisers stream with Continuum
Brass band and music contests

Choir, dance and performing arts festivals
Sell a festival pass or single-session tickets so families and supporters can watch performers they can't travel to see.
Sports and championship events
Broadcast finals and championship rounds to a paying audience, with replays for members who missed them live.

Everything a streamed competition needs
Part of the platform, not extra subscriptions
Low-latency live streaming
Broadcast from OBS, a vision mixer or any RTMPS encoder, or straight from a browser, with moderated live chat for supporters. New channels transcode to an adaptive 720p ladder for every connection.
Multi-session programmes
Split a long contest day into sessions, each with its own schedule and status, shown as a dated programme on the watch page.
Live, replay or both
Sell live-only, replay-only or live-plus-replay passes at any price, or offer free registration.
Replays recorded automatically
Each session is recorded as it streams. Choose how long replays stay available, add chapters per performance and upload an edited version.
Filming by Red Shell Productions
Our production partner Red Shell Productions, who filmed The British Open, can film your competition with multiple cameras, sound and vision mixing, so you have nothing to set up on the day.
Your brand, your domain
Four watch-page layouts in your colours and logo, on your own web address, with a light or dark viewing mode.
Streaming your own competition: common questions
How do I charge people to watch our competition live?
Create the competition as an event and add one or more passes: live only, replay only or live plus replay, at any price. Viewers buy a pass on your branded watch page and pay through your own connected Stripe account, so the money goes to you. Free registration is also an option.
Who films the competition?
Continuum partners with Red Shell Productions for filming and live production. They provide the cameras, sound and vision mixing at your venue and send the finished feed to your Continuum channel. If you already have a production team, they can stream to Continuum from OBS, a vision mixer or any RTMPS encoder.
We currently stream through a broadcaster such as World of Brass. What changes if we move?
You run the platform yourself. Tickets are sold on your own site and paid into your Stripe account, every viewer has an account with you, and you get full viewing statistics. Filming is handled by our production partner Red Shell Productions, or by your own crew; either way the stream goes to your own Continuum channel instead of to the broadcaster.
What statistics do we get about viewers?
For each event: unique viewers, watch time, peak concurrent viewers per session, replay drop-off, purchases and revenue, with CSV export. Across your platform you can compare live and replay viewing minutes.
Can people watch the competition again afterwards?
Yes. Sessions streamed to Continuum's managed channels are recorded automatically and attached to the event as replays. You decide how long replays stay available, for example a full year, and can add chapters so viewers jump straight to a performance.
What does live streaming cost?
Streaming is charged on the minutes your viewers actually watch, with a lower rate once a month's viewing passes a volume threshold, so large events cost proportionately less. Book a demo and we'll estimate the cost for your audience size.
What is the difference between a streaming focus and an LMS focus?
Both are the same platform. A streaming focus puts live events, replays and a watch library at the front, with streaming-styled sign-in pages. An LMS focus puts courses, certificates and CPD at the front. You choose in your settings and can change later; both share the same events, ticketing and reporting.
